Our Tailored Interview Tips

To help you succeed in your next interview

Research the Employer

1.

Prior to the interview, thoroughly investigate the healthcare or childcare setting. Grasp their values, services, and reputation. This knowledge will allow you to tailor your responses and demonstrate your authentic interest in the role.

Understand the Job Spec

2.

Familiarise yourself with the responsibilities and requirements of the position you're interviewing for. Be prepared to discuss how your skills and experience match the expectations and why you would make a good fit for the comapny.

Showcase Your Experience

3.

Highlight your experience and accomplishments. Be able to offer examples of how you've positively contributed to patients or children within settings in the past. Explain any additional training, qualifications and additional experience you have gained.

Enphasise Your Soft Skills

4.

In healthcare and childcare, soft skills such as empathy, communication, kindness, working within a team and adaptability are crucial. Describe these qualities through your responses and show the employer how you can positively impact their setting, team and company.

Prepare for Questions

5.

Interviewers often ask common questions about your strengths, weaknesses, and your approach to handling challenging situations. Prepare thoughtful responses that demonstrate your ability and your commitment to self-improvement.

Ask Your Own Questions

6.

Create a list of questions to ask the interviewer. These questions should reflect your research and show your interest in the specific role and company. Avoid asking questions that could have been easily answered through basic research.

Appear Professionally

7.

Wear appropriate clothing including smart wear or black attire if you do not have a shirt or blouse. Ensure that you arrive 10 minutes early and remember to bring a copy of your ID and qualifications and evidence of proof to work in the UK. These often overlooked tips show your respect for the interviewer's time and interest in the role.

Bonus!

Follow Up

As a bonus, after the interview send a personalised thank-you email expressing your appreciation for the opportunity to interview. Reiterate your interest in the role and company and explain you look forward to receiving feedback and the next steps. Showing additional interest allows you to stand out from other candidates and displays to the Employer your eagerness for the role.
